Weather Guru: Hourly Forecasts App Reviews
sad to say, the app says “breezy”and we’ve had storm force winds for 8 hours here in Victoria BC Canada rarely is accurate for our area, wasted money Dont care about high water warning for Clallam Bay 90 miles away am deleting it today due to the complete ignorance of whats actually happening or going to happen
This is handy for quick checks on your weather forecast and the forecasts for up to four other locations. Hovering over the app in the menu bar brings up a single-sentence forecast, while clicking on it brings up a a forecast for the next 8 hours and forecasts for the next seven days (the current day is included in the seven). Other locations can be chosen from the list you create and their order in the list of locations can be changed. The first location in the list will have its current conditions and displayed in the menu bar. Adding new locations to the favorites list isn’t exactly intuitive (why I only gave it four stars) but is easy to get the hang of. A nice app that I use more than I thought I would.
Very Handy
It’s a great app to see the weather with easy access. I use it seveal times a day.
Good and Quick Weather
Very accurate and reliable. Always close on the weather and changes.
Oh god pleast fix this. When the app launches and asks you to leave store feedback it will flicker back and forth, rapidly, between that feedback window and the main app.
I like it a lot. The “current weather” rollover action for the menubar weather is ugly and poorly implemented. I’d like an option to see the weather as a Notification Center Today widget. The main window would look good with a dark theme option.
My Mother and yours taught us that if we didn’t have anything NICE to say….that we shouldn’t say anything at all. I fell for the words “Beautiful” and “Gorgeous” in the Weather Guru description. So I shelled out my "50% OFF" price of $7 and waited for the Beautiful and the Gorgeous…..and then I waited a little longer. It still hasn’t arrived. The app is neither of those things. It’s the plain person who goes to the Prom and sits alone all night. I REALLY wanted to own my very first EXPENSIVE ($14) app and be Totally Blown away.…..Sorry Guys…..You really missed the boat here. :( I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get my money back (Yes???) and being a Marketing guy myself I HIGHLY advise that you lower the price of this to, maybe, 99 cents. I’m not trying to be rude….I’m just being honest. Thanks for listening.
I love the Fiplab apps and this is the reason I bought this one. I found it disappointing and not to par with the other apps we’ve been used to get from Fiplab. It’s no better or accurate than any other free weather app one can use. The only good thing is that it sits on your top menu. But the worst is that each time, and I repeat each time you hover the arrow anywhere on or close to the top menu bar or wish to open an app sitting on the menu bar, a message from Weather Guru pops up asking you whether you want to quit the app. And whether you click continue, cancel, quit or don’t show me this message again, it keeps on popping up. Very very annoying and obtrusive. Clearly this app was not ready for prime time and there are still bugs that need to be fixed. Altogether a waste of money because I remove the app after one day.
Review for MacMini late 2012 10.10.5 SSD as main hard drive Really nice weather app. Very clean, easy to use. Love the breakdown of the weather when “hovering” over the time—most imortant elements (present condition - wind speed - % chance of rain, snow, etc - humidity) One thing lacking, couldn’t find it in their documuntation, is a “favourites” button that has your favourite places easily accessed with “a click". This always comes in handy when you plan on living or traveling to one of your favorite places and you want to keep tabs on the weather. As it is, you have to “type in the search bar” for every one of your favorite places… hence 4 star for this world traveler. Also, sometimes the “hover-over-a-time-of-day” will not work. I got it to work by “minimizing” the app and re-launching the window from the dock…added to the minus one star rant above.
Forget it.
I’ve done everything as instructed three times and it still can’t find my location. I want my money back.
This app is anything but a GURU. It is extremely limited you can’t even choose your locations and your limited to only one location. I also have had nothing but problems with it since I installed it. I would not recommend it to anyone for the price. I am going to uninstall it, I am giving up on it. What a waste of money.
Good app for weather tracking hourly
recommend to those who are looking for accurate weather forecasets worldwide
I am liking this app for its simplicity, quick and easy access and yet immediate links to weather alerts that may impact the area where I live. Great job!
Little more than a glorified thermometer.
I wish I had checked it out more before I purchased this one. there are many free ones that offer more than this app. It is a waste of money.
After latest update, shortut key no longer works.
I used the shortcut key to quickly bring up Weather Guru many times throughout my day. Since the latest update, the shortcut no longer works.
OK if you want something VERY simple. No selectable favorites feature; no mapping interface; no “feels like” setting — important in the winter; and no scalability on the window to keep you from swiping right to see the full day’s forecast. Hope all this is in the works for future updates.
The App is graphically simple to discern and read. The center current temperature with the current weather icon to the left is the proper highlight (vs. the time). The remaining finer detail on windspeed, chance of rain and humidity to the right and the hi/low temperature below make the highlight “snapshot” view complete. The date and “feels like” temperature above adds more value especially in those colder climates where “wind chill” or humidity can make a big difference between ambient and felt temperature. Five locations is enough for me in my home state or for extended family locatioins. I’ll use a weather app on my phone for travel purposes. The hourly weather bar is perfect with the exploded view adding more detail. And last, the daily forecast for 7 days with the abiity to click on any day and see the hourly summary or the exploded details is just the right amount of convenient information. I still watch TV or use a mobile app for a radar view of storms or rain. What can they add? The simple answer is either everything or nothing. I like the way it is. Like most FBLabs software, it is best when simple and elegant with just enough detail. I know they will decide how to add greater value in a measured and meaningul way. Great job!
The widget design is nice, color scheme is light and feel comfortable. Moving through the hour and get more detailed info is a smart design. A few suggestions: 1. Maybe add realistic color to show the weather, e.g. blue sky with bright sun, clear night with tinkering stars and min night blue sky, cloudy day will be diferent shade of gray with clouds and maybe winds. Indeed you can support 2 schemes - the exiting one and the realistic one. 2. I would like to see sun rise and sun set time 3. would be nice to extend the forecast to 10 days
As noted by an earlier reviewer, the layout is light and airy, not foreboding or difficult to parse. Concur also with the early reviewer that a varying color scheme depending upon the forecast would be helpful.
